Desiree Bates Designs Mission Statement:

Mission Statement: It is the mission of Desiree Bates Designs to change the way the average client views web designers. Everytime someone asks about starting a website I am always told how flaky web designers are. Not only is it the Mission of Desiree Bates Designs to change that view, but it is also our mission to bring quality web design to your average small business that cannot afford the higher end web design firms.

Desiree Bates Designs has been designing websites since 2003 and we have built sites for various clients. We pride ourselves on artistic versatility as well as technical programming and guarantee to put our best foot forward to bring out your company's true personality.

Target Audience:

I have and will design websites for any company. My slogan is Versatile. I have very different interests and will no doubt convey that in any site that a client approaches me for.
I am however, a diehard motorsports enthusiast and prefer to work on websites in the motorsports industry.

My target audience that I would be reaching out to on my portfolio would be a demographic of about 25-60 years old. Probably a male dominated audience, however the market is reaching more women.

My new site design will target that male dominated audience by showing sides of me that men care about such as welding and racing. I will definitely need to prove to a male audience that I will have the knowledge to build any site that will involve any amount of technical knowledge of their industry yet keep a feminine side to attract the females of the motorsport industry as well.

Standards:

The standards I will adhere to on my site will be to use more div tags. I do not understand them very well and will m ake attempts to do so. They seem to be the way that .html is going and I definitely want to keep updated with my skills. They also seem to be more useable with javascript.

I have a tendency to use a lot of graphics and will attempt to utilize more css to make the site visually pleasing rather then bombard the view with flash and flare. In an attempt to make my sites friendly for SEO this is another reason I will use less graphics and flash. for forms and sitemaps I will attempt to utilize some javascript that I am now working on for my CSWB 120 class

Cost projection:

My estimation of cost if I were developing this site for a client.

• design of 7 page website including use of Javascript programming, .html and .css = $2100
• hosting costs: $144 annually
• domain name registration: $10 annually
• maintenance (adding graphics or content) = $20 hr
